Tears of Joy

At our last Food Fair, I saw a woman looking at the fresh fruit and vegetables with tears in her eyes.  The volunteer listened with compassion as she said, “Sometimes I just run out of money before the end of the month, and I can’t buy any more food. My heart breaks for our children and grandchildren when our refrigerator is empty.  Thanks to Family Hope for getting me through this month.”

What if you saw households in Fulshear and Simonton where the refrigerators were bare?
What if you saw households where there was so much chaos in the family, the children go to bed hungry and in fear each night?

The first question you might ask is, “Why is this happening?”  There are multiple reasons and no simple cures.  The ones who suffer the most are the children.  Without food, it is hard to make good decisions, to learn and to get along with others. With so much chaos in the family, anger builds and impulsive decisions become the norm.  Family Hope offers food to fill the immediate need, and is a place of compassion and care in hopes of transforming lives and building healthy and honest relationships.  As a community working together to help others, we reduce crime, help children succeed, and build a brighter future.

The strength of the community is the compassion we share with each other.
